Q How many times has "World Tsunami Awareness Day High School Students Summit" been held before?
A This is the first time that "World Tsunami Awareness Day High School Students Summit" is held anywhere in the
world. Commemorable first time is going to be in Japan; It is held not only in Kuroshio Town, Kochi, but also in
Miyagi and Wakayama Prefectures. We ask for cooperation and understanding from all the parties participating in
order to have a successful first-ever High School Students Summit.
Q Why is the Summit held in Kuroshio Town, Kochi?
A The maximum height predicted for a tsunami in Kuroshio Town is 34.4 m in the event of the Nankai Earthquake. In
response to this harsh prediction, Kuroshio Town has been implementing and educating townspeople in disaster
prevention measures with the philosophy that not a single life should be lost to neither a tsunami nor an
earthquake.
Since these initiatives had been recognized and praised by the world, Kuroshio Town was chosen as the site for
the world-first Summit.
Q How to get to Kuroshio Town?
A Check the link below for how to get to Kuroshio Town. There will be shuttle buses running from Tosa Irino JR
Station to the Summit. Please note that there may be a traffic regulation near the Summit site; it is possible we will
only allow vehicles with permission to drive through during the period.

Q Are the press allowed to interview and film the Summit and its participants?
A Yes, it is possible with an advance request. Please visit the link below for more information.

Q Can anyone visit the Summit?
A Yes, everyone is welcome to visit. However, there will be a vehicle restriction around the site of the Summit. We
apologize for any inconvenience, but you cannot drive to the Summit. You can either walk or park your car at the
parking lot of Kuroshio Town Hall's main building and take the shuttle bus from nearby Tosa Irino JR Station to the
Summit. Once you get to the Summit site, please proceed to the second floor for reception.
Q Will there be any traffic restrictions in the area?
A Yes, we plan to restrict vehicles during the two days that the Summit is held. We sincerely apologize for any
inconvenience due to this, but we kindly ask for your cooperation. Please note that there may be some changes to
the traffic regulations listed below.

Q In what language the Summit is carried out?
A The Summit is carried out in English except the messages from the guests. Please note that there will be no
interpretation provided.
Q Can I watch the Summit remotely?
A Yes. The plenary session starting at 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 26th (Sat.) will be broadcasted live. We will welcome
everyone to watch it at the following places: IWKTV, Ogata High School Gymnasium, and Kuroshio Town General
Center (2nd floor).
